Perfect Therapy Dog

Does your dog have what it takes to be a Therapy Dog?

What is a Therapy Dog?

Therapy dogs play a different helping role than service dogs and emotional support animals. They aren’t trained to live with a specific handler. Rather, these are dogs that — with their human teammate (often the dog’s owner) — volunteer in clinical settings, such as hospitals, mental health institutions, hospices, schools, and nursing homes, where they provide comfort, affection, and even love in the course of their work. Therapy dogs are trained to be comfortable in new environments and to interact with different people. They should have a calm temperament, be unfazed by unfamiliar noises and movements, be comfortable being handled, and love people.

In this class your dog will learn the steps needed to pass The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog test.

Classes will include how to be around wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and other medical equipment. How to great people politely, leave-it, and be unfazed by noises and movements, as well as being comfortable being handled.

In order to take the Therapy Dog class your dog should have taken Family Dog 1 and 2 and it is highly recommended they pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. (CGC) This helps to ensure that they have the required skills in obedience and can focus on the medical aspects of the training.

This class is 8 Weeks and Each class is 50 minutes. There are 7 weeks of training and 8th week will be the Therapy exam.

The cost is $250.00 plus sales tax. + $20.00 cash fee for the exam to Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog
